A 59-year-old man of Lot 2281 Section ‘A’, Block X, Diamond, East Bank Demerara, who allegedly pretended to be a Loans Officer, appeared before Magistrate Delon Bess at the George-town Magistrate’s Court yesterday where he was slapped with six fraud charges.
It is alleged that on November 26, 2023, at Charlestown, Georgetown, with the intent to defraud, Robert Bailey received the sum of $120,000 from Onika Nedd by falsely pretending that he was in a position to grant her a cash loan.
That between November 14 and 16, 2023, while in Georgetown with intent to defraud, he received the sum of $120,000 from Kevin Jew by also falsely pretending that he was in a position to grant him a cash loan.
