Mason gets community service over ganja

Lestroy Archibald, a 29-year-old mason of Tuschen Squatting Area, East Bank Essequibo was yesterday sentenced to three months of community service on a ganja charge.

The police yesterday said that Archibald was arrested on Wednesday and charged yesterday with possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking.

The defendant appeared at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce, where he pleaded guilty with an explanation. He was sentenced to three months of community service (one day per week).

Archibald was a passenger in a minibus and was nabbed at a roadblock at Mango Landing in Region #8 after he was found to be in possession of 21.4 grams of Marijuana.
