DPP orders inquest into Wismar killing

Regional Commander, Superintendent Guy Nurse,  told Stabroek News yesterday that an inquest was ordered by the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions into death of John Jones, who was allegedly killed by his two brothers-in-law after he wounded them with two cutlasses.

Last Tuesday, Nurse told Stabroek News in an interview that the brothers had been transferred from the Linden Hospital Complex to the Georgetown Public Hospital for enhanced medical treatment.

On December 30th, 56-year-old John Jones of Block 22 Squatting Area, Wismar, Linden, was allegedly chopped to death at about 4 pm at his home, reportedly by two of his wife’s brothers after he had wounded them with cutlasses. The two injured brothers are a 43-year-old labourer and a 53-year-old driver, both of Prosville, Wismar. Enquiries have revealed that Jones and the brothers had no issues with each other prior to the incident.
