Well-known and respected boxing referee Lawrence Assanah will be the representative of the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) in the upcoming International Boxing Association (IBA) Two-Star Referees/Judges Course scheduled to be held in Spain.

Assanah, who is a One-Star Referee, earned that certification after passing the theoretical and practical assessments in 2017 and will lead a two-member delegation that is set to participate at the forum. However, the other member has yet to be confirmed. Once selected, that individual will partake in the one-star assessment and examination course.

According to the GBA, the selection of that person will be disclosed in the near future. In a release to the media, the GBA explained, “The IBA Two-Star and One-Star Referees/Judges Certifications begin the pathway for emerging officials to ascertain international accreditation under the governing body. Assanah, who is a warrant officer in the Guyana Defence Force, will be among several participants at the prestigious forum.”
