Sophia taxi driver charged with causing death by dangerous driving

Gordon Vantull, a 57-year-old taxi driver of Section ‘B’ Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was yesterday charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

He appeared before Magistrate Rochelle  Liverpool at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him. Vantull pleaded not guilty and was placed on $ 450,000 bail. The matter was adjourned to March 5th, 2024. Denese Paul, a 54-year-old housewife lost her life when the speeding motor car she was in, and driven by Vantull, lost control and collided with a median on the Beterverwagting Public Road, East Coast Demerara.
