The Schoonord-to-Crane four-lane highway on the West Bank of Demerara is almost complete, according to a post yesterday on the Facebook page of the Office of the President. On September 7, 2022, just over $11.8 billion in contracts for the construction of the highway were signed at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre. A release from the Central Housing and Planning Authority had said that the project was awarded to eight contractors via the national procurement process. The winning contractors were VR Construction Inc, Avinash Contracting & Scrap Metal Inc, L’Heureuse Construction and Services Inc, GuyAmerica Construction Inc, AJM Enterprise, Vals Construction, Puran Bros Disposal Inc and JS Guyana Inc.
