Nigerian gets three months for discharging loaded gun at State House guard

Bethel Chimezie, the Nigerian national who launched an attack at State House in Georgetown on 15th December 2022, was sentenced yesterday to three months imprisonment together with three years of supervised probation on the count of discharging a loaded firearm with intent.

Chimezie was arrested by Assistant Superintendent Rodwell Sarrabo on 16th January 2023 for the offence committed on Quincy Cummings, at State House, Carmichael Street, Georgetown.

He was charged on 19th January 2023. He appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan, where he was not required to plead. Bail was refused.
