Over $300,000 up for grabs in Berbice this weekend

Flashback! Shaquel Agard celebrates after winning the Berbice leg of the Jagan’s Memorial Cycling Road Race.

With the first leg of the Jagan’s Memorial Cycling Road Race done and dusted, cyclists will now turn their attention to the second leg of the event which is scheduled for Berbice on Sunday (March 10) where over $300,000 in cash prizes will be up for grabs.

Briton John, will again be the favourite for the upcoming race after dominating the first leg on the West Coast of Demerara on Sunday last, however, others will be looking to end his streak of wins on the road.

According to Flying Ace Cycle Club’s Linden Dowridge who is part of the organisers of the event, while the peloton has been competitive, he does not foresee a change in results, however, he noted that if one of the stronger cyclists from Team Evolution could happen to keep pace with John “maybe they would be able to outsprint him on the homestretch”.
