Construction worker remanded over gun, ammo, narcotics

Christopher Durjan

Christopher Durjan, a 39-year-old construction worker of Lot 10 First Street Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, was arrested by a rank from Vigilance Police Station last week and charged with the following offences:

** Possession of Narcotics for the purpose of Trafficking, contrary to Section 5 (1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act, Chapter 10/10 (to wit 2338 grams)

 

** Possession of Ammunition, contrary to Section 16 (2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05

 

** Possession of Firearm, contrary to section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05.

 

The police say that Durjan appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court #2 before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs, where the charges were read to him. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded to prison until 2024-04-03.
