Five homeless after Rose Hall Town fire

A Rose Hall Town, Corentyne family of five is now contemplating their next move after a fire suspected to be of electrical origin destroyed their two-bedroom house on Monday evening.

Mathura Sookraj, a cane harvester, and his wife, Bhashkimuri Balkissoon resided at Lot 72 Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, with their three children where the fire started just around 9.30 pm on Monday.

According to Balkissoon, her husband was sleeping upstairs while she was sitting downstairs in her hammock when one of her daughters arrived home from work. They were chatting when her daughter noticed that something was burning.
