Guyana missed out on a historic win in the Indoor Pan American Hockey Championship as they battled to a 3-3 draw with hosts Canada yesterday in Calgary, Alberta, with the result unfortunately sealing their exit from the tournament.

Guyana’s winless run seemed destined to end, as they led 2-1 at the halftime interval against the Canadians, following strikes from Jamarj Assanah and Aroydy Branford in the 12th and 17th minutes, respectively.

However, the hosts, who had briefly equalised in the form of Tarnpreet Singh in the eighth minute, seized the unlikely lead following a double from Leighton De Souza in the 26th and 32nd minutes.
