Mahaica Determinators and Golden Stars recorded hard-fought wins when the Easter Football Cup commenced on Friday evening at the Golden Grove ground, East Coast Demerara.
Mahaica bested Melanie 2-1. Samuel Van Dijk bagged a brace in the 28th and 76th minutes. On target for the loser was Joel Lallman in the 50th minute.
Similarly, the Golden Stars defeated the Victoria Kings 2-1. An own goal in the 50th minute, alongside a Kevon Seymour strike in the 81st minute. For the loser, Kellon Croal netted in the 86th minute.
