Apple, Perreira, Seegobin propel Guyana to victory over Jamaica

Rivaldo Perreira recorded figures of 5-29

When the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars U-15 50-overs tournament continued yesterday in Antigua, all-rounder Shamar Apple struck a defiant half-century while Rivaldo Perreira grabbed five wickets to help Guyana pull off a 14-run win over Jamaica.

While the batting looked like a work in progress, it was the Guyanese bowling attack that shone once again to defend 219.

Guyana’s skipper, Adrian Hetmyer, had won the toss and elected to bat with his side looking like they would not make a 200+ score at one point. However, a brilliant knock from all-rounder Apple, who cracked four sixes with a pair of fours to top-score with 65 off 69 balls, helped Guyana to a decent total.
