East Bank Berbice man remanded over attempted murder of common-law wife

An East Bank Berbice man was last week remanded to prison after he was charged with the attempted murder of his overseas-based, common-law partner who he reportedly chopped multiple times about her body at Highbury Village, East Bank Berbice.

Muneshwar Hemraj also known as ‘Neil’, 44, a carpenter of Lot 3 Highbury Village, East Bank Berbice, was charged with the attempted murder of Deomattie Rampersaud. The incident occurred on March 27, at Lot 3 Highbury Village, East Bank Berbice.

Hemraj appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Michelle Mathias, where the charge was read to him and he was not required to plead. He was remanded to prison and will return to court on March 29 for report.
