EPA waives Environmental Impact Assessment for Plasma Rock Resort project

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced that the proposed Plasma Rock Resort project is exempt from the requirement to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

In a notice published yesterday in the state newspaper, the EPA said that according to Section 11(2) of the Environmental Protection Act, Cap. 20:05, Laws of Guyana, it has determined that the project will not significantly affect the environment.

The decision, the notice said, was made based on several factors. These include the minimal impact on air quality, noise levels, hazardous waste generation, wastewater treatment, and ecosystem preservation.
