President Irfaan Ali yesterday received a cheque valued at $110,815,105 from the Muslim community in Guyana at the Office of the President to support the people of Palestine with humanitarian aid.

A release from the Office of the President said that the funds were raised by both Muslims and non-Muslims after an appeal was held by the organising committee of the National Ramadan Village during the month of Ramadan, with the bulk mobilised during a special fundraiser on the 27th night (Laylatul Qadr) of the holy month.

During the handing-over ceremony, the Head of State lauded the generosity of Guyanese and said that he was humbled by the kind gesture.
