Guyana’s world class bodybuilder Hugh Ross and female boxing champion Shondel Alfred have been voted as the 2010 Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year, respectively.
The duo were selected for the country’s top sports award after voting to identify 2010’s top sport personalities took place this morning at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Among other awardees voted to receive 2010 sports awards by the 11-member panel are: Chavez Ageday (Junior Sportsman of the year), Chelsea Edghill (Junior Sportswoman of the year), Walter Grant-Stewart (Differently Able Sportsman of the Year), Sivert Blake (Male Sports coach of the year), Peter Green (Male Sports personality) and Karen Pilgrim (Female Sports personality).
The National Sports team of the year award went to the National female football team (Lady Jaguars), while the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Association was identified as the Association of the year.
Other awards went to the Guyana Table Tennis Association (Most improved Association), Orlando Charles (Sports Photographer of the year) and Jermaine Carter (Sports Journalist of the year – Non print).
