Guyanese woman stabbed to death in Brooklyn

New York police are investigating the killing of a 21-year-old Brooklyn mother on Wednesday as a possible murder and attempted suicide, according to today’s Wall Street Journal. Both persons are originally from Guyana.

The WSJ said that the man, identified as Akeem Deane, 21 years old, was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. Police believe he stabbed the victim, Natisha Barrow, before attempting suicide, a police official told the WSJ.

Flatbush alive but with an apparently self-inflicted stab wound to his chest at about 9:07 a.m., a law-enforcement official told the WSJ.

A suicide note believed to have been written by Deane was found at the scene, the official said. A two-year-old daughter of the couple was uninjured in the incident.
