Three Guyanese men detained in T&T

(Trinidad Express) Three Guyanese nationals were detained by Police in Penal on Friday night.

Police reports state that around 9.15 p.m. a team of officers from the Special Branch, Penal Police and CID went to a house in Penal where the three men, ages 19, 25 and 32 were held.

Police suspect that the men are in the country illegally and handed them over to Immigration authorities.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, a Central doctor was shot and robbed at his home just half-hour before the start of the curfew on Friday.

Police reports stated that around 10.20 p.m., Dr Anil Maharaj was asleep at his Fourth Avenue, Orchard Gardens, Chaguanas home, when a masked man armed with a gun entered his room.

The man pointed the weapon at the doctor and demanded cash.

The doctor refused and was shot in his right foot by the man who proceeded to steal a quantity of cash, jewellery and other items before escaping.

Maharaj was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility and subsequently transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope where he remains in a stable condition.
