Piracy accused shot after fleeing from GPHC

The police say that at about 0110h today, prisoner Terry Joseph who was a patient at the GPHC and under guard by prison officials managed to escape.

He was later seen by ranks of a mobile police patrol that was in the vicinity and during efforts to arrest him was shot and injured to his left thigh.

He has been re-admitted to the GPHC and is under guard.

Joseph has been charged with piracy and is on remand at the Georgetown prison.
