Elderly woman found murdered in North Ruimveldt

An elderly woman was this morning found murdered in her North Ruimveldt home.

She has been identified as Joyce Lewis, age 75. Lewis was living alone and only returned to Guyana in December last year.

Police are still at the scene investigating.

Stabroek News was told that the woman’s sister tried repeatedly to contact her and when these attempts failed she went to the home around 8:30 am. There were signs that there might have been a break and enter and the police were contacted.

It was after the ranks’ arrival that the woman was found dead in her room. She had apparently been strangled.
