T&T car dealer shot dead, wife critical

(Trinidad Express) Gunmen ambushed a businessman and his family outside the family home in Caroni last night. Mark Mohammed, 26, a car dealership owner, was shot multiple times and died at the scene.

His wife Adanna Lalla, 27, was also shot and is in critical condition at hospital. The couple’s seven-year-old son, who was in the back seat of the car, was not injured.

Police are searching for two men seen speeding away on a red and white motorcycle.

A car was also seen leaving the scene, police said.
According to a police report, at around 7.30 p.m. Mohammed and his family pulled up to their gate of Ross Trace, St Helena Village, in their Mercedes Benz.

As the family was alighting the vehicle, a gunman stood outside the driver’s door and fired several shots at close range. Mohammed and Lalla were shot several times.

Police were called in, and police constables Samaroo and Sookram of the Central Division Task Force responded and took Mohammed and Lalla to the Eric Williams Medical Complex.

Mohammed died while being treated while Lalla remains warded in critical condition. Visiting the scene were a party of police officers led by Superintendent Adams, Assistant Superintendent of Police Pardassie and Corporal John, together with Crime Scene Investigators Corporal Rajoo and woman police Corporal Fonrose .
Police recovered twelve spent shells and one projectile at the crime scene.

Mohammed’s killing took the murder toll to 112.
