Escapee recaptured at Mocha

Shawn Harris, who escaped from the Lusignan holding area on Monday was recaptured today at a house at Mocha, East Bank Demerara, the police confirmed.

Escapee killed in confrontation with Joint Services

Acting Police Commissioner David Ramnarine today confirmed to the Department of Public  Information (DPI) that acting on information provided by the public the Joint Services executed an operation at approximately midday today in the East Ruimveldt ward of Georgetown which led to a confrontation with Lusignan Prison escapee Clive Forde aka El Sinkie.

Part of the temporary holding facilities at Lusignan that had sparked the ire of prisoners earlier this week.

Sixteen prisoners shot in ‘extreme disorder’ at Lusignan

Director of Prisons Gladwin Samuels late this afternoon confirmed that at approximately 16:20hrs today inmates at the holding area of the Lusignan Prison were involved in a series of assaults and aggressive behaviour which resulted in extreme disorder and threatened their own safety, that of the joint services members providing security and could have escalated further and compromise the integrity of the facility.
