The police say they are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 1845h. last night at No.1 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice, and which resulted in the death of pedal cyclist Shanti Delana, 55 years, of No. 55 Village, Corentyne.
Investigations revealed that the driver of motor car HC 5768 was proceeding along the roadway, when he collided with the pedal cyclist who is alleged to have swerved into the path of the motor vehicle. As a result Delana suffered injuries and was taken to the Skeldon Hospital where he was pronounced DOA.
The driver is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
