Court to review parking meter contract

The Mayor and City Council (MYCC) yesterday lost a bid to prevent the High Court from reviewing its controversial parking meter contract with Smart City Solutions (SCS) after Justice Brassington Reynolds ruled that the court does have the jurisdiction to hear the case.

Two to hang over Bartica massacre

Mark Royden Williams, called `Smallie,’ and Dennis Williams, called `Anaconda,’ were last night sentenced to death after being convicted on seven of the twelve counts of murder in the February 17, 2008 Bartica massacre.

Massacre accused’s witness unsure of date for alibi

While murder accused Dennis Williams said he was at his father’s Georgetown home at the time of the 2008 massacre at Bartica, the older man, called as a witness to corroborate the alibi, gave conflicting testimony on his son’s whereabouts at the time of the killings as he could not remember the date.

Former acting Chief Justice Ian Chang has ruled that APNU+AFC ministers Winston Felix and Keith Scott cannot continue to sit as non-elected members in the National Assembly since they were both elected as part of the coalition’s list of national candidates.
