Cook-up chefs win big on Emancipation Day

After an intense four hours, two chefs along with their assistants, who participated in an Emancipation day cook-up competition yesterday, were rewarded with prizes which include a catering contract with ANSA McAL for their mouth-watering renditions of the rice and lentils fusion  The competition, which was a collaboration between ANSA McAL and the African Cultural and Development Association (ACDA), was held in the National Park on Carifesta Avenue.

Local creatives get training on export readiness

Although persons who attended the Creatives Go Global workshop were thrilled that the Creative and Cultural Industry was finally getting recognition from the government, they felt that the workshop, which focused primarily on marketing strategies and exporting services, did not address the challenges they are facing presently.

Residents protest plan for chemical warehouse at Industrial Site

“The residents don’t want it! We have the power and if we have power, we are not standing for that,” a frustrated resident declared yesterday on behalf of citizens of Houston Gardens, East Bank Demerara and other communities, who held a press conference to argue against a proposal by Nalco Champion Guyana to store large quantities of chemicals at Industrial Site, Ruimveldt.
