Man accused of attempted rape denies escape from lawful custody charge

A 44-year-old man who allegedly escaped from police custody after being arrested over an attempted rape allegation appeared yesterday in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and was remanded to prison by Acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan.

Cecil Spencer of 76 Adelaide and Evans Street, Charlestown was not required to plead to a charge of attempting to commit rape and he denied an escape from lawful custody charge.
