Man mauled by pit bulls told he needs treatment abroad

Lennox Wade, the jogger who was attacked by two pit bulls last week, underwent a second operation on his hands yesterday but he was told by the doctor that he will have to go abroad to seek further medical attention.

When Stabroek News visited Wade at the Georgetown Hospital yesterday, the scrapes and punctures, on his feet, legs, back and neck were beginning to heal and there were fresh bandages stretching from the elbow to the palm of his hand. He underwent two hours of surgery and was taking saline.

Because of the state of his hands Wade is unable to do anything for himself.

He told this newspaper that he was depressed with the judicial system referring to the owner of the dogs being charged with suffering ferocious dogs to be at large and not muzzled.

According to Wade, Magistrate Gordon Gilhuys who presided over the matter should have recused himself from the case since the accused is his godson but instead he placed the accused on self bail.
