Still no firm word on Air Canada

Government has received no definite notification from Air Canada as to when it will begin offering a direct service to Guyana, Tourism Minister Manniram Prashad says.

During his announcement that Delta and other services would start operations here, Prashad had said that Air Canada was also considering the route. Contacted for an update yesterday the minister stated that the airline was not ready and has taken information about this destination and will get back to the ministry. “We are still talking with them but there is nothing definite as yet,” he said.

However he revealed that Sky Service will have direct flights to Canada from July. Last Sunday Delta started its service to Guyana. It hopes to have three direct flights to the John F. Kennedy Interna-tional Airport each week. The airline is also expected to operate to other destinations from Guyana in the near future.
