The Carifesta Secretariat has enlisted the services of 14 University of Guyana students as interns and temporary staff as the pace of preparations for the Carifesta X quickens.
In a press release, the secretariat said the students were recruited to assist as there are only 77 days left before the festival opens. The interns were drawn from the faculties of social, natural and health sciences as well as from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Of the complement, 11 students are final year communication majors from the Centre for Communication Studies. They are expected to support the secretariat’s artistic, liaison, media and communications divisions.
The secretariat also said a 20-member team of broadcast students from Ohio University is expected in early August to film and broadcast the festival. The students are expected to team up with UG communication students in the conduct of their video projects.
