Miners remains flown to city

The remains of the miners who were shot and burnt at their work camp at Lindo Creek, Berbice river were flown to the city yesterday afternoon.

Stabroek News understands that Lyken Funeral home  porters were taken in to the site to retrieve the remains.

However the parlour’s staff were tightlipped about whether the remains were brought on or not but this newspaper’s source is adamant that the remains were at the parlour. Relatives have not received any official notification and even though two family members turned up at the parlour around the same time this newspaper arrived, they said they too received no confirmation from the staff there.

This newspaper was also told that the remains may not be available for viewing until a foreign forensic expert carries out investigations.
