The British soldiers will utilize the excellent jungle training opportunities in Guyana and in addition to the land exercise, the troops will be supported by the British naval vessel, Royal Fleet Auxiliary LARGS BAY, which will be operating in Guyana’s territorial waters towards the end of November.   RFA LARGS BAY is a 16,000 tonnes amphibious landing ship.

The exercise will run until the first week in December and is being carried out in co-ordination with the Guyana Defence Force.  While here, the release added, the British team will provide some training for ranks of the GDF.

Meanwhile, the British Royal Air Force will also play a significant part in supporting the exercise by providing C-17 Globemaster aircraft and Lynx helicopters for the air aspects of the training.
The British military expressed its gratitude to the Guyana government and the GDF for the opportunity to train here, continuing a strong tradition of military co-operation.
