Three held at Aurora with guns, ammo

Three men were arrested after police ranks discovered guns and ammunition in a hire car in a search operation at Aurora on the Essequibo Coast.

A police press release said that an unlicensed .32 Taurus revolver with six matching rounds and an unlicensed 9 mm Beretta pistol with six matching rounds were found when police stopped a car with three male passengers and executed a search around 12:10 hrs yesterday.
The men were arrested and investigations are continuing.

Meanwhile, the release added that one of the three men arrested is currently on bail for matters involving the unlawful possession of arms and ammunition, and is before the courts in Berbice and Georgetown.
He was charged with an offence in Berbice and was placed on bail. While on bail, he was charged in Georgetown with a similar offence and again placed on bail.
