A pile driving exercise went wrong a few days ago when one of the logs fell on a dragline and the fence of the Mothers Union Day Care Centre on Robb Street. While no one was hurt, concerns have been expressed about this type of heavy-duty work being done in proximity to a building that houses babies and toddlers for most of the day. On at least two occasions this newspaper noticed a large lumber truck packed with logs parked in front of the entrance to the centre. Parents were forced to stop in front of the construction site, where they had to face another huge pile of logs right on the shoulder of the busy road. It is unclear who owns the land and what is being built on it. This Jules Gibson photo taken yesterday shows how close the logs are to the roadway, leaving no room for stopping or parking if one needs to.
