Guyanese the world over could contribute to building a world-class track and field stadium

Dear Editor,

I often read the comments of track and field athletes who say they train in foreign nations so they can prepare to compete at a high level, because we do not have the facilities here to accommodate them, or send them to international meets. In addition, grass cannot prepare our rising stars to challenge the world.
I have a suggestion and a challenge to Guyanese the world over. Why don’t we set up a Stadium Fund at the Bank of Guyana and solicit funding from Guyanese the world over. We could provide a donation link on every major website and give it strong promotion. At $20 and up we could build a world class track and field stadium.
Let us show our Guyanese pride.

Yours faithfully,
Gavin Bailey
