Dear Editor,

In relation to a notice in two daily newspapers – Stabroek News and Kaieteur News on the 9th October 2008 about the Rising Sun Turf Club tracks by my good friend Vickram Odit, the president of the racing authority, I wish to clarify the issues as raised by him.

Rising Sun Turf Club is a registered club since 1974 with its own rules and regulations and does not require any approval or sanction from a Gymkhana Racing Authority.

The directors of Rising Sun Turf Club have been racing horses for over fifty years from D’Urban Park to Trinidad and Barbados so much so that whatever rules and regulations we may have forgotten they, the directors of the so-called authority are yet to learn.

The club also has its own officials and qualified advisers who are sufficiently familiar with the rules of racing and the management thereof to competently officiate same.

Furthermore, persons ought properly to consider their own affairs before embarking on criticism of others when they are unfit to do so.

To repeat, the club is a registered independent body so please put your house in order before you tread on rugged terrain.

Yours faithfully,
I Habibulla
President
Rising Sun Turf Club
