The executives and affiliates of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) has  expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of former national youth captain Jamaine Alleyne who died on last Friday at the age of 27 after a brief illness.

“The untimely passing of this talented 27-year-old midfielder has left us all in a state of grief. His representation of Santos Football Club which began at the Pee Wee (under-11) level, encompassing under-14, 16, 18, 20 and seniors, was always consistent with his performances,” a release from the organization stated.

“In addition to representing the then Georgetown Football League (GFL) in all divisions of the then Inter-sub association competitions, Alleyne further represented Guyana at the junior and senior level and also the Inter-Guiana games with dignity,” the release added.

“The void he has created with his untimely passing would be difficult to fill since Jamaine’s contribution to the sport as a player remains unmatched presently as he has completed a ‘cycle of development’ which is in keeping with the GFA’s mandate constitutionally, which is ‘to further develop and promote the sport of football’. May his soul rest in peace.”
Alleyne will be laid to rest today.
