Williams Cup U-11 Football Tournament…

Semis

All the semi-final spots were booked on Friday in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) organised Williams Cup Under-11 Knockout Football Tournament at the Tucville Playfield.

Fruta Conquerors defeated Western Tigers 2 – 0 ; Santos dusted aside Camptown by a 3 – 1 margin;  Beacons edged Thomas United 2 – 1  and Marian Academy gained a walk over from Strike Again F.C.

Beacon United will now face Fruta Conquerors in semi-final one and Marian Academy and Santos in semi-final two billed for November 29 at the Tucville Playfield with kick-off time at 11am.

From the kick-off whistle things went well for the FC team who received an early penalty which they capitalized  on  as Randy Lane scored from the penalty spot in the 19th minute.

Two minutes before the regulation whistle of the 40-minute encounter, Romelo Fraser put the icing on the cake with his team’s second goal.

Jaleel Ferreira in the ninth minute for Camptown and Travis Fitzpatrick in the 30th for Santos was the story of the two 20-minute halves of the Santos/Camptown battle which went into extra time.
However, Santos showed that they were able to function better at a longer version of the game by blasting two extra time goals in three minutes. Seloh Rogers and Dwayne Barker were successful in the 45th and 48th minutes respectively to guide Santos past the Camptown team.

The Thomas/Beacon showdown was almost the same tale as the Santos/Camptown battle. Both teams were deadlocked at 1-1 at regulation time compliments of a 15th minute Kevin Andrews goal (Thomas) and a 38th minute Kerron Heywood (Beacon) penalty kick.

Neither team was able to score in either half of extra time which led to a dreaded penalty shootout that Beacons won 2 – 1.
