UK group makes book donation

Minister within the Ministry of Health, Dr Bheri Ramsaran on Friday received a quantity of books donated by members of UK-based Guyanese group.

The books, most of which are medical in nature, were donated by Europa Worldwide Logistics. Europa is a company which distributes books for recognised agencies across Europe such as Macmillan and Collins etc.

Director of the Company, Roland Rampat expressed pleasure at being able to give back to his country of birth and he added that plans are in train to make the donation an annual one.

The books cover a variety of subject areas including law, economics, management, literature and culture. They will be distributed to libraries, schools and other organisations to be used in their respectie fields.

In his brief remarks, Minister Ramsaran expressed gratitude to the UK team for the generous contribution made. “The contribution is welcoming and timely,” he noted, adding that the Ministry intends to build a long term relationship with Europa.

The trio responsible for getting the books to Guyana and making the donation were: Rampat, Faiyaz Alli, Coordinator Guyana-Overseas/UK Cricket Team and Patsy Downey, PPP UK Chair.
