The Guyana Deaf Community is hosting an evening of drama, dance and fashion at the Theatre Guild Playhouse on Sunday.

In a press release the community said the show ‘Talking Hands-Dancing Feet’ was organised by Deaf in Guyana (DiG) in collaboration with the Kitty Deaf Club (KDC).

The show will feature deaf performers from across the country. The programme also includes dances from troupes including Dancing Stars and the Hands Up Dance Group and a high fashion display from Sonia Noel and other top designers modelled by members of the deaf community. Spectators can also expect to see a number of skits highlighting issues affecting the deaf community and “showing sign language in action.”

The release said after the show patrons will be given an opportunity to mingle to the sounds of the St John Bosco Steel Band. Refreshments will also be on sale. The show starts at 2 pm and tickets cost $500.

Tickets can be purchased from members of the Kitty Deaf Club or at the gate. For reservations the public is advised to call telephone number 626-1249. The show is expected to close observances for Deaf Awareness Week 2009.
