Chairman of Region Three, Julius Faerber says that he has not yet received a report on the cause of the fire that destroyed the region’s Education Office earlier this month.

A probe was launched into the September 10 fire that completely destroyed a three-storey building at Plantain Walk, Pouderoyen, which housed the Education Office as well as other government departments.

When contacted yesterday, Faerber said he had not yet received a report from the fire service or the police. “We cannot conclude [the cause of the fire] if we haven’t gotten the report,” he stated.

At the time of the fire, the chairman had told the media that three security guards at the building were alerted after hearing a loud explosion. He said that around 2.20 am, the guards observed flames in the middle flat of the building.

The 37 staffers housed at the building have been relocated to other government offices at Region Three, including the Regional Administration Office and the Education Resource Centre.
