In observance

In observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, members of the Region Five Women’s Affairs Committee (WAC) marched from Number 23 Village, West Berbice to the Fort Wellington Boardroom where a seminar was held.

20091207protestGuest speaker of the event was Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Health Authority of Region Six, Vishwa Mahadeo who encouraged women to speak out against violence and to become empowered.

The march also comprised students of the Bush Lot and Fort Wellington Secondary Schools as well as concerned citizens from across the region.
