Dear Editor,
First of all I am not a fan of the Guyana Chronicle, but I do access it primarily for its leading news headlines and to see what pictures it has as I am a collector of current pictures of my beloved Guyana, though I gave up my residence long ago and resettled comfortably here.
Secondly, it amazes me that every time I do access their web page, how quickly the pages download with my high speed internet. Unfortunately not so with my favourite paper, the Stabroek News. I have to wait and wait and start wondering what the problem is with my high speed internet. Trust my word folks, some thing’s afoot: How come the GC downloads so fast and download of Stabroek News, Guyana’s best newspaper, is so slow?
Indeed, strange thoughts pervade my mind, but I settle back and murmur, that is Guyana for you!
Thirdly, it was holy smokes! By accident I stumbled upon the editorial of February 13, 2009, in the Guyana Chronicle. It was the headline that caught my attention: ‘Rogue cops and others.’
So I read and could not believe my eyes that the Guyana Chronicle dared to comment on the prevailing bribery swarming all over Guyana!
Quote: “And this runs across the board, including all those in the public service and other state and government departments.”
Holy mackerel! What’s going on? Has the GC lost its bearings and started to wander and stray?
This was the paper whose ‘Observer’ on Monday, February 9, 2009, chose to attack me for my letter in SN of Friday, February 6, 2009 by claiming that I was attacking the government.
Well what is the editorial now doing? Is it not attacking the government and its officers at all levels for the prevailing practices of bribery and corruption?
For sure it is!
Now I going to wonder if the writer is looking for a job, or has his or her visa in hand ready to make a quick exit and be gone forever.
Seems that someone can see clearly now.
I expect the GC’s ‘Observer’ to make some comment!
