The next batch of Miss Guyana Universe hopefuls should begin research from now

Dear Editor,

I said it before, but this young artiste is indeed living up to expectations. I make reference to Ms Jessica Xavier, who more or less was the lifeline of the entertainment segment of the just concluded 2009 Miss Guyana Universe pageant. I believe she has potential and that we will be proud.

As for the selected beauty ambassador to the Bahamas representing us, I honestly don’t know whether she will be able to stand her ground with the competition she is about to face, but whatever is her fate, she should just remember to sell Guyana to the best of her ability.

A word of suggestion to future adjudicators: they should desist from asking run-of-the-mill questions and be very tough with these hopefuls.

The organisers should also encourage the next batch to begin research from now and educate themselves on certain topics.

They should also push them to get involved with the Toastmasters Club, which in my opinion would be a great source of help with public speaking.

I would have liked to hear some comments coming from participants on the Low Carbon Development Strategy.

Yours faithfully,
T Pemberton
