Dear Editor,
The directors of Lake Mainstay resort must be complimented for a well organized Summer Regatta held on August 16 at Lake Mainstay, Essequibo Coast. I have been visiting the Lake Mainstay Regatta since it started in the year 2001. As the coordinator and clerk of course, I can say that every year it is getting bigger and better.

It has been declared by the racers the best racing circuit. The power boat racers are calling for another race meeting some time in February 2010 – two race meetings per year in Essequibo and two in Bartica. I am encouraging Linden to host a race meeting too; Linden can fit into the month of October or November, 2009.

Bartica and Pomeroon racers now have modern boats and faster factory-built racing engines.
I represent the racers as the President of the Guyana Power Boat Racing Association. The association is a member of the International Union of Power Boat Racing (Union Internationale Motonautique, UIM), and as a member we have all the rules of power boat racing.

Director of Sport Neil Kumar is aware that we would like to have more young members from all over Guyana to make this sport bigger, and racers can go abroad to represent Guyana. My contact number is 455-2804, 677-5002, and the address is 13-4th Avenue Bartica, Essequibo.

Many thanks to Digicel, Ansa McAl, Banks DIH and other companies and organizations who always chip in to boost power boat racing. In 2010 we hope to have five race meetings per year.
Yours faithfully,
Winston Miller Sr
