MSC and GCC to meet in final of GCA/Busta 2020

Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) and Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) have earned the right to meet each other in the final of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Guyana Beverage Company sponsored Busta 2020 second division competition after recording victories over Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Transport Sports Club (TSC)respectively.

Playing at the DCC ground in the first semifinal last Saturday, MSC disposed of the home team by three wickets, thanks to the batting of Troy Lewis whose 79, containing  four fours and eight sixes, piloted them to 143-7 from 19.4 overs.

This was in reply to DCC’s 139-8 made from their 20 overs of which Troy Nurse and national under-19 opener Trevon Griffith were the principal scorers with 47 (5×4) and 39 (5×4; 1×6) respectively.

Bowling for MSC, Daniel Greavesande (4-22) and Jermaine Joseph (2-20) were the principal wicket takers, while Joseph (20, 2×6; 1×4) and Imran Hassan (17, 1×6) offered support to Lewis with the bat in MSC’s innings against the bowling of Griffith (3-16) and Kevin George (2-39).

At the same venue the following day, GCC sent TSC home, defeating their opponents by 30 runs in their match-up.

Batting first, GCC reached 150-3 from their 20 overs with Jeetendra Sookdeo (51; 4×4, 1×6), Wasim Haslim (36, 3×6; 1×4) and Romain Grenville (35, 3×4), being the principal scorers against the bowling of K. Poole 2-35.

When TSC batted, they found the bowling of Dillon Fernandes (3-25), Haslim (2-1) and Sookdeo (2-23) too much to handle before they were bowled out for 120 despite C. Persaud who top scored with 55 that was decorated with three fours and the same number of sixes.

The final will be played this Saturday at the same venue at a time to be announced.
