After relegating their sister counties Berbice and Essequibo to defeats in the Guyana leg of the Caribbean Airlines sponsored T10 Village Cricket, Demerara flew the Golden Arrowhead high in Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday to win the regional title with wins over South East (Trinidad) and St. Elizabeth (Jamaica).

Playing in Couva, Trinidad, Demerara defeated Trinidad champions South East and then dismantled St. Elizabeth of Jamaica to finish the three-team competition unbeaten.

Demerara skipper Shemroy Barrington played an unbeaten 72 to lead Guyana to a 20-run victory over Jamaica’s St. Elizabeth.

In their first match, Dexter George copped the Player-of-the-Match against South East, claiming 3-10 off two overs to restrict the Trinidadians to 90/9 off their allotted 10 overs with his teammates chasing the total down with three wickets and two deliveries to score.

In the second game against St. Elizabeth, skipper Shemroy Barrington stroked an unbeaten 72 while Andrew Lyght Jr. made 54, leading Demerara to 132/1 from their 10 overs after batting first before bundling out Jamaica for 112 to secure the championship.

Dexter George snared 3/10 in the first game against South East as Guyana’s Demerara romped to victory.
