Public needs to be better informed about El Nino – ECHO

According to a press release some residents who have been affected by the weather condition have turned to unsanitary sources of water which could negatively affect their health. ECHO also said the drought-like condition also seems to have contributed to mosquito infestation in some areas and it believes more should be done to treat with this nuisance.

The release said more public advisories should be issued to inform the public about how to reduce or eliminate potential breeding grounds for the pests.

Health teams should also be dispatched to vulnerable areas to provide support, particularly to senior citizens who might be affected.
