Blue Berry Hill woman was strangled -autopsy

A post mortem examination found that Alexis Perreira, whose decomposing body was discovered early Saturday morning in a yard at Christianburg, died as a result of strangulation.

The examination was conducted yesterday and the results have prompted relatives to call for a thorough investigation into the matter by police. They said that they are preparing to bury Perreira’s remains on Sunday but plans might be stymied by the ongoing industrial action by Linden Town Council workers.

Two persons were held by Linden police to assist in the investigations but have been released. The discovery of the body was made by a Matthew’s Lane, Section ‘B’ Christianburg resident shortly after 6 am last Saturday.

Kiza Dawson, 19, identified the partly decomposed body as that of her mother Alexis Perreira, 36, of Blue Berry Hill, Wismar, Linden. According to Dawson, she last saw her mother alive on Wednesday.

At the time of the discovery, the body was clad in blue denim jeans and a pink top, which close relatives said led to the positive identification. “She was at my shop only Thursday,” relative Mayfield Greene said, adding that she was quite familiar with the pink top which Perreira wore on numerous occasions.

Residents of the area where Perreira’s body was discovered said that on Friday night they were bothered by the stench but were not sure of the source. The vegetation in the yard was overgrown because the owners of the property have been away from the area for quite some time now.
