The Guyana Telephone and Telephone Company (GT&T) continues to boast the slogan ‘Getting better all the time’; I doubt this.
The telephone at the Wakenaam Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) (telephone number 774-5060) has been out of operation since December 19, 2009. Several reports were made to GT&T in December 2009, January 2010 and now in February, but to date GT&T has not seen it fit to rectify this problem.
This is the main government office on the island, where all the residents would access government services and lodge complaints. With our telephone out for such a long period of time, it inhibits the NDC from administering and the residents from receiving services.
